Partnering with recycling and asset recovery experts is crucial. M&K ownership delivers on three decades of experience in the electronics recycling and refining industry. It is widely recognized that the world’s natural resources are scarce, finite, and quite costly to acquire. As a result, there is increased emphasis on the recycling and conservation of these critical resources. “Going Green” means implementing organizational strategies that will properly manage and reduce your waste streams.

Recycling Your Electronics with M&K

The electronics recycling business has developed in response to a critical and rapidly spreading problem in the developed world: electronic waste. Electronic waste is the fastest growing segment of the waste stream and comprises seventy percent of the overall toxic waste found in landfills. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports indicate that approximately 2.4 million tons of electronic waste was disposed of in the country in 2010. Computers, which contain up to eight pounds of toxic materials such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, contribute the greatest amount of electronic waste.

When lead, mercury, and other toxic wastes are improperly disposed of, they pose various health and environmental risks, including risks to workers and increased pollution in the form of dioxins, carcinogens, heavy metals, and greenhouse gases.

M&K Recovery Group has offered a solution to this urgent problem since 1995. The expertise of our employees as well as that of our longstanding, downstream partners allows our customers to recycle their electronic media in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. Through careful electronics recycling, refining, and remarketing processes, we address a very real problem and fulfill an urgent, worldwide need.

M&K welcomes the opportunity to discuss solutions to your electronics recycling and asset recovery initiatives.
Zero-Landfill

Protecting the environment and our clients is M&K’s top priority. No hazardous wastes are sent to landfills. Our asset management system is EPA-compliant and tracks your IT assets and electronics waste disposition: De-manufacturing and segregation of material for recycling is conducted in DEP-permitted facilities. Downstream recycling partners are leaders in their respective fields. Auditable bar coding of product tracks final disposition of material and eliminates potential risk and liability to your organization.

The Electronics Recycling Process

Lifecycle Management

The U.S. EPA estimates that in 2010 the country generated about 2.4 million tons of e-waste. It is the fastest growing portion of the waste stream. M&K has provided comprehensive ITAD and Electronics Lifecycle Solutions since 1995. Many of these products contain hazardous or toxic materials which require expert management. M&K’s experienced staff and long-standing downstream partners provide clients with the procedures necessary for recycling these items in an environmentally-safe manner. Equipment is disassembled, separated, and evaluated for maximum recovery processing. All precious metal-bearing material is refined. Commodities such as ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and plastics, are recycled for intrinsic value. Focus Materials for electronics recycling include printed circuit boards, batteries, and CRT/LCD glass.

Urban Mining

Urban Mining involves efforts to recover precious metals and other valuable commodities from e-waste rather than mining materials. Reusing and recycling electronics benefits the environment by saving energy and keeping valuable materials out of landfills. Computers and electronics are comprised of precious metals, copper, plastics, and glass, which require energy to mine and manufacture. Recycling serves two critical purposes: conserving these valuable materials, while reducing air and water pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Asset Trak

M&K’s web-based Asset Trak provides “chain-of-custody” tracking and settlement of complete units, subassemblies, material for refining, and e-scrap. With Asset Trak auditing, customers are given the flexibility of customized reporting, reverse logistics, and an asset management solution suited to their requirements. Real time tracking reports enable viewers to identify when assets are prepared for remarketing or disassembled for recycling. Remarketed, recycled, and destroyed assets are issued appropriate certificates for your permanent records. Downstream Reports ensure environmental compliance and final disposition of all product redeployed or recycled.
